(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) Shortly after 8:00pm on the 31st of October 2016, officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train, approximately 4 kilometers west of Sioux Lookout.
Officers attended the scene, and along with the assistance of the Lac Seul Police Service, and the Northwest Emergency Medical Services (EMS), rescue efforts were conducted.
A 15 year old male from Sandy Lake, Ontario, who was also a student at Pelican Falls High School, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The circumstances of the collision is still being investigated. But alcohol consumption by the pedestrian was a contributing factor.
