Pedestrian Struck By Pickup Truck Airlifted To Hospital

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Norfolk County Road 21, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at approximately 5:39 p.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics attended Norfolk County Road 21 for a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and pedestrian.

Through the course of investigation, it has been determined that a transport truck with a flatbed trailer was travelling westbound on Norfolk County Road 21 when it pulled to the side of the roadway and stopped. A 40-year-old male passenger in the truck exited the cab and attempted to cross the road southbound, when he was struck by a pickup truck travelling westbound that was being operated by a 28-year-old male.

The 40-year-old male suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital by paramedics. He was then taken by air ambulance to a Hamilton area hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the transport truck and driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Norfolk County Road 21 will be closed for approximately 6 hours between Forestry Farm Road and East Quarter Line Road to allow for further police investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
