(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On June 29, 2018 at approximately 1:57 p.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as Quinte West Fire Department and Hastings Quinte EMS responded to Wooler Road in the City of Quinte West for a collision where a pedestrian was struck by a VIA train.
As a result of the collision, a 20 year old male from Quinte West was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The OPP have completed the investigation and deemed it not suspicious.
Wooler Road and 2nd Dug Hill Road were closed for approximately 1.5 hours as well as VIA Rail Services before resuming to regular traffic.
