(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Thursday, January 12, 2017 at approximately 10:50 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 61, north of Arthur Street.
Officers from Sioux Lookout OPP were travelling in the area, observed the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop on Arthur Street.
Officers spoke to the driver and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was transported to the Thunder Bay OPP detachment for further tests.
Paul ROBERTS, 50 years of age, from Neebing, Ont, was arrested and charged with:
-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on March 17, 2017, to answer to the charge.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
