Paul ISAAC – Drunk Driving, Assault Police, Breach

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 31, 2017 at 9:21 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol within the Town of Parry Sound when he observed a car fail to stop at a stop sign. The officer turned on his emergency light equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for the police vehicle and continued to the parking lot of a local apartment building a short distance away, where the driver fled on foot.

The officer took after the male driver on foot. The officer caught up to the male and attempted to affect an arrest. The male became assaultive towards the officer, causing the officer to sustain non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was ultimately brought into custody. The officer then determined that the male had consumed alcohol.

The officer was treated at local hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation.

As a result of the investigation;

Paul ISAAC, 31 years of age from Parry Sound, is charged with;

Flight While Pursued By Peace Officer, contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)

Driving While Ability Impaired By Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CC

Driving With More Than 80mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC

Assault With Intent to Resist Arrest, contrary to section 270(1)(b) of the CC

Driving While Disqualified, (2 counts) contrary to section 259(4) of the CC

Fail To Comply With Probation Order, (3 counts) contrary to section 733.1(1)

Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Liquor Container, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
