Passenger Killed In Collision

(Pembroke, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Dore Bay Road in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The collision was reported at approximately 11:20 pm on November 12, 2016.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Mazda pickup was south bound on Dore Bay Road when the vehicle left the road way and entered the ditch. The passenger in the vehicle 36 year old Jamie Hubert of Bonnechere Valley Twp. was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver 47 year old Scott Hubert of Horton Twp. was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Hubert has been charged with Impaired Operation / Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle / Cause Death and Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample contrary to the Criminal Code. He was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 20, 2016.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators (TTCI) are assisting with the investigation. P/C Brendan Lynch is the investigating officer. North Algona/Wilberforce Fire Department, Bonnechere Valley Fire Department as well as County of Renfrew Paramedic Services assisted at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
