Passenger Gets Drug Charge At RIDE

(ASSIGINACK TOWNSHIP, ON) – At 7:40 p.m., on March 28, 2016, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on King’s Highway 6, at Assiginack Township, Ontario. A pickup truck was checked, and a vehicle passenger was found to have a controlled substance.

As a result of the investigation, Virginia Rosemary BEAUDRY, age 27 of Wikwemikong First Nation, Ontario has been charged with possession of cannabis marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay, Ontario on May 16, 2016.
