Passenger Assaults Police Officer – Drunk Driver Arrested

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On December 24, 2016 at 3:08 a.m., the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a vehicle heading southbound, the occupants of which were involved in a disturbance at a Sudbury home. The occupants of the vehicle were reported to have been consuming alcohol.

At 5:01 a.m., a member of the West Parry Sound OPP located the car on the shoulder of Highway 69 in Wallbridge Township. The officer spoke with a female in the driver’s seat and determined that she had consumed alcohol. As the officer was placing the female under arrest, a male occupant exited the vehicle and assaulted the officer. The male then attempted to get away from the officer by getting back in the vehicle. While outside the vehicle, the male again assaulted the officer. Upon the male’s arrest, he began spitting at the officers.

As a result of the altercation;

Marley LISCOMBE, 25 years of age from Essa Township, Ontario was charged with;

Care or Control over 80mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Resist Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC

Escape Lawful Custody, contrary to section 145(1)(a) of the CC

Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC

Mischief Under $5000, X2, contrary to section 430(4) of the C

Assault Peace Officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the CC

Marc BENOIT, 30 years of age from Essa Township, Ontario was charged with;

Assault Peace Officer, X2, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the CC

Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC

Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC

Resist Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC

Uttering Threats to Cause or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC

The accused persons were held pending a bail hearing.
