PAIBOMSAI – Drunk Driving, Breach

(BIRCH ISLAND, ON) Between 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., on March 30, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Communications Centre in North Bay received two separate 9-1-1 calls from motorists reporting a pickup truck being driven erratically on King’s Highway 6. A Manitoulin OPP officer located the vehicle in Birch Island. The officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol, and the driver was arrested.

As a result of this investigation, Gaston PAIBOMSAI, age 35 of Whitefish River First Nation, Ontario has been charged with impaired care or control of a motor vehicle, and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, contrary to section 253(1) (a) & 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and breach of probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on April 25, 2016.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
