Ottawa Police lay charges laid in market robbery

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to two separate investigations.

On September 6, 2013, at approximately 7:30 pm, a male victim, bound to a wheelchair, was situated along York Street when he was approached by a male suspect. The victim was punched, and then had a quantity of loose money taken from a tray on his wheelchair. On September 11, 2013, at approximately 8:15 pm, the same suspect again approached the same victim, near York/William Streets and stole a quantity of loose monies. The suspect fled but was followed by a passerby who notified and directed police to the suspect. There were no injuries.

Emmanuel MBAIHA, age 35 of Ottawa, is charged with robbery, theft under $5000, and 2 counts of breach of probation. Mr. Mbaiha appeared in court on September 12, 2013.
