Ottawa Police investigate separate sexual assaults on women by Taxi Drivers

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section (SACA) is investigating two separate incidents of sexual assault, where the taxi driver is alleged to have committed the sexual assaults. They are not believed to be the same suspect.

In the most recent incident, on November 9th 2013, at 02:30 hours a 20-year-old woman flagged down a taxi on Bank Street near Hunt Club Road, and was driven to a residential area near McCarthy Road and Walkley Road, where she was sexually assaulted, inside the taxi, by the driver. The suspect is described as having slightly dark skin, balding, in his 50’s, chubby build with crooked teeth.

The second incident, which occurred on November 2nd 2013, at 23:00 hours, a 17-year-old female flagged down a taxi in Gatineau, Quebec, Hull Sector, and was driven to the Sandy Hill area of Ottawa, where she was sexually assaulted inside the taxi by the driver. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, in his 40’s, medium build, brown eyes, unshaven and short dark hair.

In both cases the fares were not registered with the taxi company(s), as the taxis were flagged down on the street.
