Orillia OPP Weekend Update

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 134 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, numerous motor vehicle collisions and possible impaired drivers.

On February 04, 2017 OPP were called to a local business with reports of a possible impaired driver. As a result of the investigation police charged 18 year old Joshua ATKINSON of Orillia with Impaired Driving Contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The driver has been released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Court of Justice on March 14, 2017

On February 04, 2017 OPP members conducted a routine traffic stop which led the driver getting charged with impaired driving offences. Police charged 33 year old Adam WALKER of Orillia with Impaired Care and Control Contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Care and Control Over 80 Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The driver has been released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Court of Justice on February 28, 2017
