(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a male party involved in an incident on Old Barrie Road in the City of Orillia.
On Tuesday February 11, 2014 at approximately 9:00 a.m., a female driver advised that she was driving on Old Barrie Road when she was stopped by what she assumed was a police officer. After the interaction with the male, the female had doubts that the individual was actually a police officer and contacted police. The Orillia OPP is currently investigating the incident but is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the male.
The male was driving what was believed to be a dark blue Crown Victoria with medium tint on the windows. The vehicle had no markings or visible exterior police equipment. The vehicle appeared to have a flashing green light inside on the dash.
The male was described as older, approximately 6’ tall, scruffy grey hair with a large stomach and a reddish, wide dimply nose. The male had no facial hair, long scruffy eyebrows and a loud deep voice.
He was wearing black jacket, black pants and was wearing what was believed to be a police style peak hat. The hat had a shiny peak, small shiny black belt around the front with a blue ribbon and gold badge in the centre.
The male identified himself as PC Eccle (unknown spelling) but did not show any identification. The male was last seen driving his vehicle eastbound on Old Barrie Road toward Highway 11.
The OPP would like to remind the public that police officers normally wear an identifiable working uniform or they can be in what is commonly referred to as ‘plainclothes’. A badge and warrant card also serves as a means to properly identify all police officers.
