OPPP Weekly Report – Kemptville 2013-11-25

(Kemptville, ON.) – Between November 18th and November 24th, the Kemptville Office of North Grenville Ontario Provincial Police investigated 98 general occurrences: 34 Kemptville, 46 Municipality of North Grenville, 9 Village of Merrickville – Wolford and 9 on Highway 416.

On November 21st, the OPP received a report of a theft of copper pipe from a construction site on Royal Landing Gate in North Grenville. The investigation is ongoing.

Sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. a residence on Boundary Road in North Grenville was broken into and the culprit(s) stole a large selection of PS3 games, jewelry and a pair of woman’s Harley Davidson boots. The investigation is ongoing.

On November 19th, the OPP received a report of a break in at Benson Auto Parts in Kemptville. The investigation revealed that the incident happened during the dark of night and a small amount of cash was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

Sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on November 21st, a residence on County Road 23 in North Grenville was broken into and culprit(s) stole stereo equipment, computer equipment and jewelry. The investigation is ongoing.

On November 24th, the OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. program when a vehicle entered a parking lot avoiding the stop. Police found this suspicious and when confronting the driver, he had a smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and an open can of beer in his vehicle. The driver registered a “fail” on the roadside screening devise and was arrested and transported to Kemptville OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test. Craig Louis Brogan, age 23 of North Dundas was charged with driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol.

During the early morning hours of November 23rd, the OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. program when a vehicle was stopped and the driver had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver registered a “fail” on the roadside screening devise and was arrested and transported to Kemptville OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test.

Melvinder Singh Rai, age 22 of North Grenville was charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol.
