(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment want to remind residents to use caution when sales persons come door to door.
Recently, residents have lodged complaints that unknown persons have attended their residence asking for entry to look at items in the residence. Once inside, the person would attempt to sell a new product for their home.
You are your best protection.
If you have not requested a service to come to your home, make sure you know who the person is and what company they are representing. Most will be carrying the companies ID card. If you have any doubt, call the company and confirm. Do not let strangers inside your home.
If you are feeling pressured to buy something, get information and contact numbers. Take your time to decide. Only you can decide what you want and need and what you are willing to pay for it. Call the Better Business Bureau to find out if the company is legitimate and what their standing is with them.
Protect yourself! If it seems too good to be true, it is.
