OPP TO CONTINUE POLICING ORILLIA AND AREA TO THE SAME HIGH STANDARD – Contract Will Expire on September 1 2013-08-29

(ORILLIA, ON) – With the Ontario Provincial Police’s (OPP) contract with the City of Orillia about to expire, the OPP would like to assure Orillia and area residents that it will continue to provide high quality policing services to its citizens.

Once the OPP’s Police Services Act (PSA) Section 10 contract with Orillia expires on September 1, 2013, the city will automatically be converted to a PSA Section 5.1 non-contract arrangement. The transition to the new contract arrangement will be seamless.

“I appreciate the comments of Mayor Orsi to Orillia and area residents earlier this week, and want to reaffirm that the face of policing in the city will not change under a Section 5.1 contract,” said Superintendent Rick Philbin, Commander of the OPP Municipal Policing Bureau.

Philbin reinforced the OPP’s commitment to consistently provide the most cost-efficient and effective service possible to all 324 communities it serves.
