(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The OPP Spring Seatbelt Campaign ended on Saturday April 23rd, 2011 at 11:59 pm. Across the province, officers checked 1,050,329 vehicles with 5, 622 drivers and 1,791 passengers being charged for seatbelt offences. Locally, South Bruce OPP officers checked 15,772 vehicles with 65 drivers and 10 passengers being charged with seatbelt offences. South Bruce OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Bill Klym reminds motorists that seatbelt use is mandatory all year long. “The Spring Seatbelt Campaign brings heightened awareness to the importance of seatbelt use. A properly buckled seatbelt reduces the risk of serious injury or death in a crash. The South Bruce OPP will be monitoring seatbelt use every shift to improve safety on area roads.â€
