(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On March 29, 2014, just after 1:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Communication Road and Creek Road, when a Mazda automobile entered and stopped for the officers.
Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle. Subsequent OPP investigation determined that a passenger in the vehicle had an open container of alcohol, and also resulted in the officers seizing a small amount of suspected marihuana.
The 20 year old male passenger from Chatham has been charged with Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Having Liquor In Open Container Other Than Licenced Premises, Residence or Private Place, under the Liquor Licence Act.
He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court at a later date to answer to the charges.
