(Municipality Of Mississippi Mills, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two male youths and one female youth with a number of offences following an incident near Clayton in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, on Saturday 27th August 2016.
OPP were called to a suspicious BMW SUV being driven in the area at 11:35 am that day. While responding the officers received a further call to a vehicle (matching the suspect SUV) that had rolled over into a field on Bellamy Mills Road.
Three suspects fled the scene into nearby bush.
The Lanark County Officers immediately contained the area and a initiated a search by members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Officers.
Two suspects were located on foot and the third suspect that had fled on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was subsequently arrested.
Each of the youths is charged:
One (1) Count. Break and Enter Steal Firearm.
One (1) Count. Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence.
One (1) Count. Take Motor Vehicle Without consent.
One (1) Count. Possession of Property Over $5,000.
One of the youths is also charged with:
Three (3) Counts. Fail to Comply with Recognizance.
All three youths were held in custody pending a Bail hearing.
Lanark County OPP wishes to acknowledge the support and cooperation of the local community throughout this incident. Residents assisted in maintaining public safety by remaining at home, reducing travel in the area and reporting suspicious activity.
OPP have not yet identified owners of some recovered property. Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a crime connected to this incident but has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Lanark County Detachment OPP using the 1- 888- 310- 1122 toll free number.
