(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, August 14 at 10:20 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multiple vehicle collision on Highway 11/17, east of Oliver Road.
A Ford truck was east bound on Highway 11/17 when a roll of carpet underlay flew out from the back of the truck. The driver proceeded to turn around to retrieve the underlay. In the meantime, the driver of an east bound Hyundai SUV stopped upon seeing the underlay and a second vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Prix stopped behind the Hyundai. A third vehicle, a Honda Pilot drove into the rear of the Grand Prix causing that vehicle to bump into the Hyundai SUV.
There were no injuries reported at the scene.
The Pontiac Grand Prix sustained extensive damage while the other two vehicles sustained minor damage.
The driver of the Ford truck has been charged with Having an Insecure Load contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
