OPP REMIND RESIDENTS TO LOCK THEIR VEHICLES AND KEEP VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT

(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On August 25, 2014 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous reports of thefts from vehicles that were parked in driveways over the weekend in the Town of Fergus. The suspect(s) entered unlocked vehicles and stolen were electronics (GPS, laptops, phones), money, identification, sunglasses and keys.

Police want to remind vehicle owners that thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity. An unlocked vehicle door or an open window is an invitation to thieves, and keeping valuables out of view could prevent you from becoming a victim of theft.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle entries and thefts is asked to please contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip on-line at www.crimestoppersguelphwellington.com. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2000.
