OPP Recover Stolen Vehicle From Brussels – Raymond LAW Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 57-year-old from Brussels remains in jail following an arrest that took place earlier this week in downtown Brussels.

It was 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 when Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a Chevrolet Silverado that was just stolen from a business located on Turnberry Street in Brussels. Police later learned the driver of the stolen vehicle also stopped at the Ultramar gas station in Blyth and fueled up without paying.

Within the hour officers located the stolen vehicle east of Blyth whereupon they strategically followed the stolen vehicle toward Brussels. At one point officers attempted to stop the driver however he failed to stop when police activated their emergency lights and siren. The driver continued travelling northbound toward Brussels evading two spike belts and failing to stop at a controlled intersection.

Police discontinued their brief chase however two plain clothes officers from the Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) watched as the driver pulled in and parked at the medical center in Brussels. The driver was immediately taken into custody without incident.

Raymond LAW, 57 years of age from Brussels has been charged with:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Theft Under $5,000

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

Driving While Under Suspension

Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 28, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
