OPP OFFICERS TO TAKE TO THE ICE IN CHARITY HOCKEY GAME THIS SATURDAY AT NOON

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – This Saturday April 26, 2014 members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment will be participating in the seventh annual OPP Charity Hockey Game in support of Victim Services of Middlesex County. Throughout the years the OPP has continued an excellent working relationship with the members of Victim Services, a group who has supported more than 14,000 victims of crime in Middlesex County alone.

Each year the organizing committee put in countless hours in organizing this event, and again this year is no exception with booking the Dorchester Skating Club, Tim Bits Hockey Teams ,OPP, EMS, Fire Department and local Community groups who will be taking part in various demonstrations. A silent auction is also on the agenda with signed & authenticated NHL Jersey’s including Toronto’s “C” Doug Gilmour, New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur and St. Louis Ryan Miller to name a few. Further items will include golf passes, tools, concert tickets, donations from local business and so much more.

The doors will be open to the public at 11:00 a.m. An extrication demonstration will be conducted in the front lot by members of Thames Centre Fire Department at 11:20 a.m. on a vehicle donated to the event by Silverbirds Towing; this is a family favorite for sure.

The puck will drop at noon on an exciting game between the members of the OPP and the outstanding volunteer hockey coaches from within the community of Dorchester. Constable Kevin Howe states “This is event has a little something for everyone from the hockey game itself to the silent auction table, numerous demonstrations by police, fire, the skating club and our local youth in the shootout. The OPP has been honored to be part of such an outstanding event and one that brings the community together in support of such a great cause.” The game will be refereed and by local fan favorite and former NHL star Dave Hutchinson.

The game will be held at the Flight Exec Centre located at 2066 Dorchester Road located in Dorchester, ON, just minutes east of London. Admission is only $2.00 per person and children 3 and under free. All funds raised will be donated in support of Victim Services of Middlesex County.
