OPP Locate Human Remains In Belwood Lake

(BELWOOD, ON) – On April 21, 2018 at approximately 3 p.m., a local fisherman located the human remains of a young male in the water immediately north of the Belwood Bridge on Wellington County Road 26, within the Village of Belwood.

Officers of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) immediately responded to the scene and located the remains. Members of the West Region OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) as well as the Wellington County and Dufferin-Caledon OPP Crime Units also provided assistance.

Under the direction of the Regional Coroner, a post mortem examination will be conducted at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC- OFPS) in Toronto. Once the identity of the deceased is confirmed, the name will be released.
