(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) -The City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has launched a new program aimed at providing grade 12 students with “An insight to policing with the OPPâ€Â.
On November 6, 2013 Inspector Shaw, detachment commander, welcomed the 12 students chosen to participate in the new program and stated that “the program will expose the students to many different facets of policing within the OPP and will help them to make decisions regarding policing as a careerâ€Â.
The program features scenarios related to traffic enforcement, including impaired driving; demonstrations from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K-9 units; information related to the Auxiliary unit and Offender Transport Unit as well as the opportunity to testify in court.
