OPP INVESTIGATING SERIOUS COLLISION INVOLVING TRACTOR AND MOTORCYCLE

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – On August 7, 2014, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a serious collision on Sunset Road, by Roberts Line, in the Municipality of Central Elgin, ON.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., police were called to a two vehicle collision involving a large tractor and a motorcycle.

A black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling northbound on Sunset Drive, struck a green John Deere tractor hauling a grain wagon. The tractor had been traveling northbound on Sunset Drive prior to the collision.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 61 year old male from London, ON, was airlifted to hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The passenger on the motorcycle, a 19 year old female from London, ON, was transported to hospital by ambulance and is currently listed in good condition. The driver of the tractor, a 22 year old male from Dutton-Dunwich, ON, was not injured in the collision.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) were deployed to the area to assist with the investigation.

Police closed a section of Sunset Drive between Roberts Line and Sparta Line for the investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.

Information was received that there were a number of witnesses in the area when the collision occurred. Anyone with information in regards to the collision is asked to call Elgin County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

This incident is still under investigation.
