OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Norfolk County Highway 19, Middleton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, June 21, 2014 at approximately 7:40 p.m., Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Paramedics from Norfolk, Oxford and Elgin Counties responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.

Investigation has determined that a Pontiac van was travelling southbound on Norfolk County Highway 19 and a Toyota pick-up truck was travelling north bound when both vehicles collided.

The driver of the van suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle suffered serious non- life threatening injuries and was taken to a local area hospital where they were then transported to a London area hospital for treatment. The driver of the pick-up truck received minor injuries.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Norfolk County Highway 19 is closed between Norfolk County Road 30 and Carson Line to allow for police investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
