OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Norfolk Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, November 27, 2014 at approximately 11:35 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation has determined that a pick-up truck was travelling northbound on Norfolk Street North when the vehicle collided with the rear of another vehicle travelling in the same direction. The pick-up truck then left the roadway and entered the west ditch striking a hydro pole.

The driver of the vehicle, a 63 year old male from Elgin County, Ontario was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending physician.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) is assisting with the investigation.

Norfolk Street North between Concession 13 and Concession 14 will be closed for approximately 6 hours to allow for further police investigation.
