(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Police are currently investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Hamilton Road between Westchester Bourne and Harris Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre overnight.
On October 15, 2014 at approximately 10:39 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thames Centre Fire Department and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to a collision on Hamilton Road. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team assisted with the investigation.
Police have since learned that a motorcycle was travelling westbound on Hamilton Road west of Harris Road. Further information has revealed another vehicle was turning eastbound onto Hamilton Road from a private drive. The motorcycle tipped and skidded upon attempting to brake; the driver was ejected from the motorcycle and was struck by the other involved vehicle.Decrease Indent
Hamilton Road was closed between Westchester Bourne and Harris Road for the police investigation. The roadway reopened at approximately 4:00 a.m.
The 59 year old male motorcycle driver, Ronald WEICK of London, ON was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. There were no other injuries as a result of the collision.
The investigation continues.
