(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing their investigation into a robbery which occurred on Sunday August 24, 2014 at approximately 4:15 a.m.
A 24 year old man was walking through McKinnel Park in the City of Orillia when the incidence occurred. The park is located between Dunedin Street and Memorial Avenue.
He was attacked from behind, struck in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground. While down, he was kicked in the face and head. One male in particular was encouraging others in the group to assist him while he robbed the victim of his wallet and cell phone. There were several males and one female in the group.
One male is described as Caucasian, approximately 6 feet tall, 190 lbs., wearing a black t-shirt. He had a tattoo on his left arm.
The suspects left the park in a north easterly direction.
The victim managed to get himself to the nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
