OPP Investigate Possible Drowning In Tweed

(TWEED, ON) – On Sunday, August 28, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Ontario Provincial Police – Central Hastings Detachment were contacted regarding a missing swimmer from a festival taking place at Trudeau Park, Tweed, ON.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., witnesses report they were swimming shortly before the beach was closed due to a possible incoming thunderstorm. A 21 year old male from Mississauga, appeared to be in distress and was last seen in the water.

A cursory search of the beach and water was conducted but the male has not been located.

Members of the Central Hasting OPP Detachment and OPP Marine Unit were dispatched to the scene. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are attending the scene to assist with the search.
