(GRAFTON, ON) – On Saturday November 22, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single motor vehicle roll-over collision near Highway 401 at County Road 23 (Lyle Street) exit.
A Northumberland OPP officer was enroute to a set up for RIDE spot check just shortly after 11:00 pm on Saturday when he come across a female pedestrian near the Lyle Street off ramp near Highway 401 north of Grafton. The woman appeared to be in distress and the officer stopped to check on her wellbeing. She advised him that she had been in a car crash. The officer searched the area and found the vehicle upside down in the wooded area west of the Lyle Street overpass bridge.
It was determined that she went off the road, became airborne, rolled and struck a tree. The female extricated herself after being in the car for several hours. The black Volvo was not visible from the highway at night.
Northumberland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were attended to the scene and transported a 20 year old female from British Columbia to hospital with serious by non-life threatening injuries.
OPP are continuing to investigate this collision.
