(WEAGAMOW LAKE FIRST NATION, ON) – On January 19, 2014 at approximately 7:20pm (EST) officers with the North Caribou Lake Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding an unknown disturbance at a residence on South Shore Road in Weagamow Lake First Nation. When officers arrived on scene they located a deceased female.
At approximately 3:45am (EST) January 20, 2014 a grey GMC pickup truck suspected to be related to the incident on South Shore Road was located by officers in a remote area a short distance from the community. Located nearby was a deceased male.
The identities of the two deceased are not being released at this time.
Members of the OPP North West Region Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and Sioux Lookout Detachment are assisting the North Caribou Lake Police Service with this death investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Peter Loree of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
