(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On January 18, 2014 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a snow mobile.
Investigation indicated that a Chrysler Neon was travelling southbound on Northline Road just south of Fells Bay Road when it was struck by a Skidoo MXZ that had been travelling east bound on the snowmobile trail. The snow mobile failed to stop at the intersection and subsequently struck the vehicle.
The driver of the snowmobile was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were uninjured.
The operator of the snowmobile, Brian BROWN, 25 years of age, of Bobcaygeon was charged with the following offences, contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA):
Fail to produce evidence of insurance
Fail to produce evidence of licence
Fail to produce evidence of registration
Disobey sign, contrary to Ontario Regulation 804
