(PERTH COUNTY, ON) -Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a collision yesterday, February 27, 2014 that sent an OPP Officer to hospital.
At approximately 12:30 yesterday afternoon, Provincial Constable Lisa Irwin had responded, in whiteout conditions, to investigate a collision on the east shoulder of Perth County Road 131. At the time she was in a fully marked cruiser, with her emergency lights on and flares set up. She had two civilians in the rear of the cruiser.
While investigating the collision, the cruiser was struck in the rear by a northbound Ford pickup truck coming out of Milverton Ontario. The driver drove over flares that set up to provide extra warning to motorists of the cruiser and collision scene ahead.
PC Irwin sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. She was treated and released and is now home recovering. Two other persons in the rear of the cruiser sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene before being released.

The investigation is ongoing and charged are pending.
