(TINY TOWNSHIP, On)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit are continuing to search Nottawasaga Bay with the assistance of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) for a missing plane and lone pilot.
The 1968 Cessna 182 aircraft, being flown by Wilfred Oscar BURNSIDE age 64 years of Owen Sound, left Cornwall Ontario at 5:00PM November 7, 2013 and was to arrive in Owen Sound at 7:45PM November 7, 2013.
The plane failed to arrive in Owen Sound and has been the subject of a ground, air and water search that has involved staff from the Canadian Armed Forces, RCAF, Canadian Coast Guard, Ontario Provincial Police and private citizens.
To date, only small pieces of debris that belong to a Cessna aircraft have been located along the Tiny Township shoreline.
Anyone who may have observed debris from an aircraft in the Nottawasaga Bay area is asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122.
