(KANATA, ON) – Following an investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police Professional Standards Bureau commencing in December 2012, a member of the OPP was charged on June 19, 2013 with Luring a Child, Section 172.1 of the Criminal Code (CC). In September 2013, he was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Restricted Firearm, Section 91(2) CC.
On August 29, 2014 Constable Michel JANHO, age 32, was re-arrested and further charged with 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation contrary to Section 153 of the Criminal Code.
He was released on a Promise to Appear and Officer-in-Charge Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ottawa on September 9, 2014.
He continues to be suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Services Act. He is a 6 year member of the Ontario Provincial Police posted to the Ottawa detachment. He was off-duty at the time of the offences.
