OPP Charge Two Wrong Way Drivers

(Ottawa, ON) –The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged two drivers of motor vehicles after separate incidents of travelling in the wrong direction.

On January 09, 2015, a driver was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 417 at St-Laurent Boulevard. A minor collision occurred without any injuries. As a result, a 64 year old male was charged with driving the wrong way on a divided highway.

On January 10, 2015, at approximately 12:25 am, the OPP stopped a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on Highway 416. The vehicle was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes north of Fallowfield Road. The investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking.

The male driver, 50 year old David GRAY of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, was charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle while over 80 mgs of alcohol. He is scheduled to appear in Ottawa court on February 10, 2015.
