OPP CHARGE SEVERAL DRIVERS OVER THE WEEKEND

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was out in full force this past weekend keeping drivers accountable. A driver cannot operate a motor vehicle while they have a suspended drivers licence or if they are unlicensed. A conviction of driving while suspended carries a fine of $1,000 to $5,000. The court may also impose a 6 month jail sentence for the conviction. Several motorists were stopped by Police and charged with the appropriate charges over the weekend.

Anthony DRAKE, 46 years of age from Severn Township, was charged on November 15, 2013 with the following:

– Fail to yield to traffic on through Highway, contrary to the HTA

– Drive while under suspension – 3 counts, contrary to the HTA

– Drive while disqualified, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

– Obstruct Peace Officer, Contrary to the CCC

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on November 28, 2013

Dariusz NOWAK, 29 years of age from Sudbury, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence and Speeding – 33 km/h over the Posted Speed Limit on November 15, 2013. NOWAK was served a Part I Provincial Offences Act Notice with a set fine of $325 and $238 respectively.

Kenneth FFRENCH, 39 years of age from Markham, was charged with Drive While under Suspension and Speeding – 35 km/h over the Posted Speed Limit on November 16, 2013. He will attend the Parry Sound Provincial Offences Court on December 16, 2013 to answer to his charges.

Robert DOVE, 45 years of age from Seguin Township was charged with 3 counts of Drive While under Suspension on November 16, 2013. He will attend the Parry Sound Provincial Offences Court on December 10, 2013 to answer to his charges.
