OPP Capture Wanted Man After Foot Chase – Two Cruisers Damaged – Name Released

(TOWNSHIP HURON- KINLOSS, ON) – On January 13, 2018 at approximately 1:00 p.m. South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) apprehended a male wanted in connection to an uttering threats incident involving a firearm that occurred on January 11, 2018 in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

Shortly after 12:00 noon on January 13th the male was observed operating a vehicle on Bruce Road 6, Ripley, in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Police attempted to block the roadway at which time the male drove towards the blockade; damaging two OPP cruisers. A civilian passenger vehicle was damaged a short distance away before the male fled from his vehicle. After a short foot chase the male was apprehended and taken into custody.

The lone male occupant of the civilian passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries. He was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and released. A female passenger inside the suspect’s vehicle also sustained minor injuries for which she was treated and released.

A South Bruce OPP officer attended the hospital where he was treated for a fractured wrist and released.

30-year old Glenn William O’NEILL of Huron-Kinloss is in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for January 14, 2018.

Several charges are anticipated.
