(RYAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at approximately 6:45 am a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Sault Ste. Marie detachment was injured while conducting traffic control at the scene of a motor vehicle collision north of Alona Bay on Highway 17 in Ryan Township.
The officer was in his cruiser with all emergency lights activated facing northbound when a motorist travelling northbound rear-ended the cruiser.
The officer received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by Sault Area ambulance.
The driver of the other involved motor vehicle was not injured.
The collision is still under investigation.
