There is an ongoing police investigation regarding collusion and perjury allegations regarding North Huron senior staff, a police officer and two North Huron councillors. Sadly the maximum penalty in Canada for perjury is only 14 years in prison.
Wingham’s future right now is in the hands of one police officer that must decide if he is going to honor his oath, or defend his fellow sunshine listers and their actions/lies. Honoring his oath would led to full accountability for those that participated in the August Atrocities and could easily trigger a chain of events that would led to the OPP policing Wingham at half the cost of the Wingham police. Clearly the investigating officer must decide what is more important, his integrity and oath adherence, or blind allegiance to the colluders that sign his paycheck.
Officers that arrest and charge people without cause or chance of conviction do so to punish people, clearly an oath/Rights violation. When they lie on the stand to cover their mistakes, they should be immediately imprisoned. The officer knows it will cost their victim thousands in legal fees, incredible havoc in their life, loss of reputation, loss of work, etc etc. The corrupt officer usually flippantly states something like “you can fight it in court, and it will be my word against yours”.
The officer also knows he/she will likely be rewarded for victimizing the Public and will get overtime pay to go to court, and if he/she is caught breaking the law they will get a paid vacation in the form of paid suspension.
Clearly the system is broken and way out of balance.
Police lie all the time to cover their asses, sadly this is a fact not an opinion. The Ombudsman report on the SIU clearly shows this. If for some reason you don’t believe the Ombudsman and their mountain of evidence, read this article on the TheStar Police who lie: How officers thwart justice with false testimony
