One Pronounced Dead – Three Others Suffer Electrical Shock While Putting Up Large Tent

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) On August 1, 2013 at around 5:00 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to the 8000 block of La Salle Line in response to an alleged electrocution. Alvinston District Volunteer Fire Department, Inwood Volunteer Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) from both Lambton and Middlesex-London also responded to the scene.

A crew of six males were putting up a large tent for a family function when the tent made contact with some hydro wires. Four of the males were injured and transported to area hospitals; two by land ambulance and two by air ambulance.

One of the males has died as a result of his injuries and the other 3 remain in hospital with serious injuries. The other two members of the crew did not sustain any injuries.

Hydro One attended the scene and The Ministry of Labour was contacted and also attended the scene.

Further information will be released after next of kin notifications and further investigations are completed.
