On December 7th, 2014 at 12:08pm, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle rollover collision on Vienna Line, East of Sawmill Road in the Township of Malahide. The report also indicated that the lone female driver was trapped in the vehicle.
Investigation of the collision indicated that a 2001 Silver Honda Civic 4 door car was being driven east on Vienna Line when the motor vehicle travelled onto the right gravel shoulder. Upon coming in contact with the gravel shoulder the vehicle then veered to the right and entered the ditch colliding with an embankment over a culvert. The vehicle then went airborne and crashing onto the front lawn of a nearby home after the vehicle rolled several times.
The lone female driver, a 25 year old Port Burwell, ON woman had to be extracted from the vehicle by Malahide Fire Services. She was then airlifted to hospital.
The driver was initialled listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries however later that evening police confirmed that the driver had been released from hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway was re-opened at approximately 3:20pm.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
