(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On October 4, 2016 at approximately 1:35 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint involving a blue four door Hyundai that was travelling on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph.
Officers located the vehicle on the Hanlon near Kortright Road and observed it being operated in an erratic manner. Police stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the male driver determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to a local police station for further testing.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle was suspended from driving.
26-year-old Oliver LANDU of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Drive While Under Suspension x2 contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 25, 2016.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
