Officer Assaulted – Two Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident after being called to a Highway 59, Middleton, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Sunday, September 4, 2016 at approximately 7:50 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted police reporting a suspicious incident.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a resident observed a blue coloured vehicle sitting on the side of the roadway and contacted police. An officer arrived and located a Good Samaritan attempting to assist a male and female.

While on scene, the male and female became involved in a physical confrontation with police and the Good Samaritan after they attempted to remove the Samaritans vehicle. They were both unsuccessful and then re-entered their vehicle, which had been reported stolen earlier in Oxford County.

As a result of the altercation, a 66-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The officer received minor injuries however did not require medical attention.

Police subsequently arrested and charged a 22-year-old male and 24-year-old female.

Charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, assault a peace officer and fail to comply with recognizance is 22-year-old Cody HILL of Windsor, Ontario.

Charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, assault a peace officer and fail to comply with recognizance is 24-year-old Keeley Dianne SHIPWAY of London, Ontario.

Both are to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
