Numerous Speeding Charges Laid

(GOULAIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have received numerous complaints regarding vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17 north.

Between April 7, 2015 to April 9, 2015 17 charges have been laid under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario for speeding.

Driver’s that were issued Provincial Offense Notices for speeding registered speeds on radar (allegedly) between 118km/hr to 140 km/hr.

Speeding is a form of aggressive driving that place all road users at risk.

Aggressive driving is one of the “Big Four” driving behaviours that contribute to road fatalities in Ontario and the OPP does target speeding as a part of its Provincial Traffic Safety Program (PTSP) in their efforts to save lives.
