Numerous Community Mailboxes Broken Into – Are You Missing Mail?

(KINCARDINE, ON) – The South Bruce detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several reports of Canada Post community mailboxes being pried open in the Kincardine area between March 3rd, 2016 and March 6th, 2016. The affected Canada Post sites are reported to be:

Saugeen Street in Kincardine.

James Street in Kincardine

Kingsway Street in Kincardine

St. Albert Street in Kincardine

Penetangore Row in Huron Township

Boiler Beach Road in Huron Township

It’s unknown what was taken, but residents that use one of the affected sites should be aware that mail could be missing. The OPP’s website, www.opp.ca, contains a number of useful resources, tips and links to help protect you from fraud, scams and identity theft.

Suspicious vehicles or suspicious persons should be reported to police immediately so that an officer can investigate.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.crimestoppersgb.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
