(Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous 911 calls of an impaired driver on Highway 7. The vehicle was located by responding officers on Peterborough County Road 2 near Crowley Line yesterday just before 6:00pm.
The 45 year old female operator of a vehicle from Oshawa, ON was stopped and arrested. Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society (CAS) were contacted regarding the two children passengers were located in the vehicle. The driver was charged with:
Impaired Driving
Driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in her blood
The Peterborough County OPP would like to commend those that called 911 to report this very dangerous situation. It is alleged that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration of the driver was almost four times the legal limit allowed in Ontario. Responding officers believe that a tragic outcome was certainly avoided thanks to the public support in this occurrence.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, ON June 16, 2016.
