(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:
Jun 29:
– Police attended a Brighton residence where a couple were arguing over an ex-partner (1am). Alcohol fueled the disagreement; they were separated for the night. No charges resulted
– A Ford Ranger pickup truck reported stolen from Peterborough was recovered on Alma St in Campbellford
– An Alnwick-Haldimand Twp man accidentally dialed 911 when trying to ‘load minutes’ onto his phone. 911 dialed in error when attempting to call 611 in the Brighton area. Both incidents resulting in a police response
– A traffic stop on Saskatoon Ave in Campbellford resulted in a 41 yr old local man being charged with driving while under suspension and possession of a small amount of marihuana. He was released at the scene with a court date.
– A Seymour Twp father reported his ATV stolen by his adult son. Police located the son and the ATV on Grand Rd in Campbellford. He was not charged at the request of the father
Jun 30:
– Report of several persons yelling/screaming on Raglan St in Campbellford at 4:20am. Officers located the adults and calmed them down. The reasons for the disturbance weren’t clear but alcohol was a contributing factor, no charges resulted
– A 33 yr old Wasaga Beach man was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed when he was measured traveling 170 km/h on Hwy 401 in the Brighton area at 7:00am. His 2003 BMW was impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for the same period of time.
– A resident on St. Andrews Dr. in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp reported the theft of flower pots sometime over the past weekend
– Report of an aggressive driver attempting to pass vehicles on Hwy 401westbound in an unsafe manner. Officers from the OPP Highway Safety Division located the white VW Jetta in the Port Hope area traveling 140 km/h. The 29 yr old Brampton woman was charged with speeding and driving without a licence.
– A traffic stop on Hwy 401 in Hamilton Twp resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of marihuana. The officer located six pots in the trunk containing small marihuana plants. The 56 yr old driver from Sophiasburgh Twp (Prince Edward County) was charged with Produce a Schedule II substance: cannabis marihuana. He was released with an impending court date
July 1:
– Police responded to a 911 call in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp shortly after midnight involving a knife. Several officers attended the home which resulted in a male being arrested for domestic assault.and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing. The victim sustained minor injuries. Names withheld
– Officers located three overdue motorists at a hotel in Ottawa after a concerned family member contacted police at 4am.
– A confused senior contacted police at 4:15am claiming to be locked inside his home. Officers located the man safe inside his room at the senior’s complex in Trent Hills. Staff at the home were advised of the call and were to monitor him
– Police assisted EMS with an intoxicated man in Hastings (1pm) who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for his medical issues
– A 41 yr old Brighton woman was charged with driving while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance after she attempted to avoid a RIDE program on Guertin Rd Brighton (2:45pm)
– Police attended a Brighton building and provided assistance to a landlord evicting tenants
– Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on King St East in Colborne at 10:25pm. Witnesses reported a red Chev Cavalier striking a pole in a parking lot resulting in both front air bags being deployed. Officers located the car and subsequently arrested the 23 yr old female driver for impaired driving. She was taken to the Brighton detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Andrea FERGUSON of Colborne is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle, Care & Control of a motor vehicle while her blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood and Fail to Remain. She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on August 4, 2015. Minor injuries to the driver and occupant.
Jul 2:
– A 32 yr old Belleville woman was charged with driving while under suspension on County Rd 25 Cramahe Twp (3am)
– Report of an eastbound taxi travelling on Hwy 401 in the Port Hope area with its emergency flashing light activated. Officers located the taxi in the Brighton area and determined the driver accidentally turned it on, no emergency (3:42AM)
– A resident on Valley View Ln near Hastings reported the theft of her blue ASL Electric Water Wheeler (paddle boat) sometime overnight. HIN (Hull Identification Number) #J0K12837B515, Registration # WWLELBLO4 value: $1,100
– A youth called 911 to report being chased by a truck in a field near Baltimore in Hamilton Twp. Officers located the youth and her friend who were also driving a truck. It was determined that they had been driving over crop in the field causing extensive damages. The truck chasing them were the property owners. No charges were requested by the owners and the youths were cautioned for mischief and trespassing. (10:50pm)
Northumberland OPP also conducted eight RIDE programs, investigated 51 traffic related complaints and 14 motor vehicle collisions.
